Comedian and actor Kevin Hart, who has a big box office comedy now playing, The Wedding Ringer, says one role you won't see him playing anytime soon is gay.
Hart appeared Friday on the radio talk show, The Breakfast Club on New York City's Power 105.1, where he said the one role he regretted not taking was Alpa Chino in Ben Stiller's Tropic Thunder, a part ultimately played by Brandon T. Jackson, who is straight.
"First of all, in my defense, let me say I am politically correct," Hart told the hosts. "To the gay community and everything that you all do, and as people, I love you."
Then he continued, "The dude was doing a lot of stuff in the draft that I read. It was real, real flagrant. It was a lot of stuff and I said, 'I can't, I can't do this.'"
Then one of the hosts asked him directly, "Could you play a gay role?"
"No," he replied, "Not because I have any ill will or disrespect, it's because, I can't do that because I don't think I'm going to dive into that role 100 percent, because of the insecurities about myself trying to play that part."
