Logo's new reality series Fire Island got the Saturday Night Live treatment as the cast flipped the script on the series concept and created the "affluent lesbian" version of the popular gay men's retreat --" Cherry Grove."
The Logo series, which follows six gay guys during a summer of partying, has been picked over and criticized by LGBT columnists for catering to stereotypes. "Logo's Fire Island Contributes to Gay America's Moral Decline," wrote Jason Wimberly in a column for The Advocate. It got disagreement from Jezebeland others, while some predicted the show is a "hot mess."
The SNL voice-over for the show's trailer introduced the spoof, "And if you like separating types of people into shows, you'll love Logo's other new reality show..."
SNL lampooned Fire Island by making a lesbian version that does exactly the same, showing the lesbian's "raunchy" parties involving a lot of puzzles and Annie Lenox. And wine. So much wine.
Out cast member Kate McKinnon led the sketch with her cast mates Aidy Bryant, Cecily Strong, Sasheer Zamata, and five-time host Scarlett Johansson.
