A man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter after admitting to pushing an attorney under a train will be tried for murder.

The BBC reports that Sonia Burgess, a 63-year-old transgender woman, died in October 2010 after falling onto the Tube tracks at King's Cross station in central London.

Senthooran Kanagasingham, 35, admitted in England's Central Criminal Court to pushing Burgess and pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the basis of diminished responsibility, saying he was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia at the time.

Prosecutors have rejected this plea and say Kanagasingham will be tried for murder.

According to prosecutor Brian Altman, the murder was "very deliberate." The story quotes the prosecutor as saying that "significant factors other than any abnormality of mental functioning were at play."

"For the purposes of this trial," Altman says Kanagasingham -- who also goes by the name Nina and was undergoing gender reassignment at the time of the incident -- "wishes to be known by his birth name and his male gender."
