Latin America's first gay marriage will be held on World AIDS Day, December 1.

An Argentine couple, who are both HIV-positive, made the announcement Monday after they were given the date by the Buenos Aires registry office.

"We will become husband and husband," said Alejandro Freyre, 39, and Jose Maria Di Bello, 41, reports Agence-France Presse.

An Argentine judge on Friday approved plans for the couple to marry. This will be the first same-sex marriage Latin America, the world's biggest Catholic region.

The wedding will be held in the same registry office that turned the couple away in April because they are both men. Now they will have the same rights as a heterosexual couple.

Hi everyone. First of all, let me tell you that we had elections this year. We elected senators, representatives and city councils. And during the campaign, LGBT rights organiations sent a questionnaire to all candidates. Mauricio Macri's PRO candidates, positoned against LGBT rights. And so he did when he was running for President in 2007. The reason for him to be on our side now is that the pseudo-leftist national government is not yet defined rheir position on this LGBT marriage debate. There are two bills on the Congess and they refguse to attend the debates. So now Macri (moderate but conservative right) takes advantage of this and position PRO as a viable altgernative for progressives. And let me make this clear: The judge authorized this couple only and the verdict is not effective nationwide. It means, only this couple wil be married until the Supreme Court authorizes some of the other couples (ther are other three couples waiting for a court decision).
