Antigay Irish MP Iris Robinson an Adulterer

IRIS ROBINSON X390 | Advocate.com

Days after stepping down from her post as a member of the British parliament to deal with her “lifelong battle with depression,” antigay Northern Ireland politician Iris Robinson has admitted that she was cheating on her husband in recent years.

Robinson, who made headlines in 2008 when she suggested following the attack of a gay man in Ireland that “homosexuals” could be cured through counseling, has revealed that she was cheating on her husband at the time the comments were made.

She says her husband, Peter Robinson, found out last March, and on the same night, she attempted suicide.

Iris Robinson announced in December she would step down from her political post and retreat from public view to better treat her mental illness.

OMG - There are so many places I can go with this & I just can't resist. As far as for her personal opinion about anything, well she can just drop dead. Oh Wait. That may seem a bit overboard or crude on my part, but look at her eyes in this picture. Anyone whom you can't see the whites of their eyes must be a tool of the devil, so I don't feel bad about this. AND THOSE TEETH - YIKES. Even though she attempted to get some work done, she still looks like something out of "Jurasic Park." Who or what did she cheat on her husband with? A BEAVER? She is probably a carpet muncher too. LOL

It's ironic that the Advocate identifies Northern Ireland's Iris Robinson as "Irish" since she's no doubt been struggling her entire life to be identified as "British". Mrs. Robinson, known across Ireland as the "Wicked Witch of the North" because of her vicious and bigoted views on both Catholics and gays, has helped demonstrate once again that Karma can be a bitch.

IChided Iris Robinson in the BELFAST TELEGRAPH some time ago for her venomous homophobic remarks. Now I see we can also label her a shameless hypocrite. Were she an American, I am sure she would have been a Republican much like another political loudmouth and phoney that speaks with a forked tongue, Michelle Bachmann.

Surely a comitted Christian should love all of Gods creations, after all we were all created in Gods image. What is more shameful for Iris Robinson is to be so hipocritical as to willingly break one of the 10 commandments by having an affair. Funnily enough none of the 10 commandments ban gay relationships but encourage us, as Christians, to follow sensible morals to include loving God, respecting your parents, protecting the rights of people less powerful than yourself. Surely if you are a Christian you cannot just pick which rules to follow and which to flaunt!

Iris Robinson is not Irish. She would describe herself as British. The violence in Northern Ireland was due to political, not religious, reasons. Religion, however, often helps people identify the politics of the people of Northern Ireland. I live in the Republic of Ireland and we are generally tolerant. Ithink that Northern Ireland is less tolerant of the lgbt community but not incredibly so. M.P.'s are elected by the way.

And Mark, regarding my marriage...no, Hawaii doesn't recognize it yet. But for almost all ot the 100 people who attended the ceremony in Boston and the 200 that came to the reception back home in Honolulu, this was the first same-sex marriage they had any invovment with. Every one of them experienced something new and most of them told their friends, families and co-workers. That is change in the real world. Acceptance happens with real effort, and I would say it's more long-lasting when people understand because their minds have been changed versus being told to change. One of the main reasons we did it was because of the political implications. And every time my husband introduces me as his husband, it sparks dialogue. My whole original point when I first posted was that wishing death on someone changes NOTHING. That is the opposition's tactics and we should be better than that.

Mark: Glad I amused you, but I'm not talking about being polite & placating. Far from it. There's a big difference between civility (which I advocate) and placating (which I don't). If there's no dialogue, there is no progress. I know MANY people, including in my own family who've changed their attitudes over time by rational discussion. I've never seen any of them change because we screamed at them. We've gone from virtually NO support 20 years ago to states & countries recognizing marriage equality. There are heart-breaking defeats along the way & I too get frustrated and angry. But throwing (figurative) bombs fixes very little. I've been involved in this movement for 30 years & can tell you, the "bombers" have an effect, but in the overall picture, they SPUR change, but it is the work that happens before, during & after the bombs that make the lasting & effective change. There is room for both attitudes in our movement within out denigrating our allies and potential allies.

Being from Northen Ireland this woman should not be referred to as an "Irish MP". She is a member of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.

You are too funny HawaiiBill.. especially since you live in a state where your marriage isn't recognized. 2 drunk 18 year olds can get more legal rights than you in a 10 minute ceremony. You are both right and both wrong. Placating and being polite is a BIG old fail. Reactive and illogical is a big old fail, too. That being said, I feel no compulsion to be compassionate to the people who work to hurt me and my cohorts. And I feel no need to be nice about the fact that people see me as less than human.
