Hathaway Quits Catholicism for Gay Brother

ANNE HATHAWAY X390

Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway tells GQ magazine she and her parents have left the Catholic Church because of the religion's views on gay issues. Hathaway, whose brother is gay, says she and her parents became Episcopalians shortly after he came out.

"The whole family converted to Episcopalianism after my elder brother came out,” she said. “Why should I support an organization that has a limited view of my beloved brother?"

Hathaway, who has been a vocal champion of gay rights since starring in Brokeback Mountain, says she isn’t quite at home with the Episcopal Church either: "So I'm ... nothing [no denomination]. F**k it, I'm forming. I'm a work in progress.”

She can convert to any religion as much as she want but only to those who don't have a holy bible or don't recognize the bible. See SODOM and GOMORRAH.Genesis 19:24.And if you believe in God. As long as you don't commit Sodomy

What a publicity seeking B**ch. It so strange that she now only supports gay right only after her brother came out of the closet. The Catholic religion has always been against homosexuality. Was she against homsexuality prior to her brother? What actors won't say or do to always be in the lime light.

I dumped the Russian Orthodox religion for its brutal and barbaric position on gays and lesbians. They're even worse than the papists. I joined the Episcopal Church because of that church's inclusivity much like the UCC. I want my tithe dollars to go to support a Community that views me as a human being and not trying to treat me as subhuman. I don't look back with fondness to the Russians and their homophobia and xenophobia. Good riddance. I would imagine the Hathaways felt the same way in wanting to give their money to a supportive community rather than to an old coot who wears red slippers and is the King of Pedophiles.

Jesus never intended to start a church as we know them, and I'm sure he would be quite surprised at some of what the Catholic Church teaches today all these years later. The Catholics and Protestants have always picked out and interpreted scripture passages to suit their own ends and prejudices. If Anne Hathaway and family don't support the message of the Catholic Church, then it is within their rights and for their spiritual benefit to find somewhere else to worship.

Joyce: lol No really. LOL. Are you really preaching on this site about Jesus? The man who when his disciples said "These are people like us, but not of us, what should we do?" he said "Leave them alone". Are you preaching about the narrow path to heaven lead by the man who said that the Roman soldier who had faith in Jesus' ability to cure his servant that he would sit at his side in heaven and many Jews would languish in perdition? The Roman soldier who said nothing about Jesus' father, or following the one true path, he just believed in the miracles. And do you know why? Because he was pagan. Pagans at the time were raised to believe in such things. To the Jews miracles were from the past, they hadn't happened in ages. Pagans performed rituals and created their own miracles all the time. So, I think perhaps YOU need to take it up with Jesus. He professed Faith as the important part, not dogmatic specificity.

Anyone who has a problem with what the Catholic Church teaches should take it up with the master himself, Jesus Christ. He never intended to make His Church a democracy, open to public opinion or current (and changing) trends. His teachings, passed down through the ages, haven't changed in 2000 years (and never will)....who are we that are here for just a "blink of an eye" to tell God how to run His Church. Yes, there have been many members of the Catholic Church (and other churches) who have failed and sinned, but just like Jesus' own hand-chosen disciples, one, Judas , was a "mess-up" (8%), but that doesn't change what Jesus requires of His people and His Church. Just saying you are a member of a "church" does not mean you know anything about it or what it teaches....and no matter how often you go to "church", doesn't mean that you have true faith. My heart goes out to Ann and her family (and others ) and I pray that they find their way. The road to Heaven is "narrow"
