A gay married couple who have been separated because their union is not recognized by federal law have been reunited, reports The Boston Globe. Tim Coco and Genesio Oliveira were married in 2005 in Massachusetts after same-sex marriage became legal but have been separated for three years with Oliveira forced to live in his native Brazil. The couple were reunited on Wednesday in Massachusetts, where Coco lives, after federal immigration officials granted permission for Oliveira to stay in the United States for one year on humanitarian grounds, which will allow him to try again for legal residency.
