Carl Paladino, the Republican candidate for governor of New York, engaged New York Post state editor Fred Dicker in an altercation where the Tea Party favorite threatened the life of the journalist.

According to Capitol Tonight on YNN, reporter Kaitlyn Ross captured the dustup on her cell phone at the annual meeting of the Business Council in Bolton Landing near Lake George on Wednesday.

"The candidate for governor and journalist are shown having a confrontation over Dicker allegedly sending a photographer to follow around the 10-year-old daughter Paladino fathered outside his marriage," reports the Capitol Tonight blog. "The Buffalo businessman called Dicker a 'stalking horse' for his Democratic gubernatorial opponent, Andrew Cuomo."

As the men are separated, Paladino can be heard saying to Dicker, "I'll take you out."

Capitol Tonight
reports, "Before Paladino and Dicker were hauled off to their separate quarters, the Post Albany Bureau chief was pressing the candidate about an interview he gave to POLITICO, in which he accused Cuomo of being unfaithful to his ex-wife, Kerry Kennedy."

The New York gubernatorial race has been growing more heated in the past week since polling showed Paladino making progress in his quixotic bid against Cuomo, once believed to be the odds-on favorite for office.

Cuomo, who serves New York as attorney general, has made marriage equality part of his reform-minded platform, while Paladino said that he only supports civil unions.
