Pro-DADT General Confirmed to Lead Marines
Gen. James Amos, who recently said he opposes the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to become the next head of the Marine Corps, the Associated Press reports.
Amos, a naval aviator, will step up to replace retiring Marine commandant James Conway.
At a Senate Armed Services Committee meeting last week, Amos said the surveys sent to Marines regarding their views on "don't ask, don't tell" show they are "predominantly" opposed to repeal. He did, however, add that the Marine Corps would still follow the law, however it would be decided.
