Ricky Martin chatted with Larry King on Tuesday and expressed his interest in having the option to marry, but only if he and his partner could be wed in the United States or Puerto Rico.
CNN's King asked Martin why he and his partner, who is also from Puerto Rico, would not just travel to a country where they can legally marry.
"We can go to Spain and get married," said Martin. "We can go to Argentina and get married, but why do we have to go somewhere else? Why can't I do it in my country where the laws are protecting me?"
Martin added that he and his partner are not seriously discussing marriage right now, but he does want to have the option -- in the country of his choosing.
"I don't want to be a second-class citizen anymore," he said. "I pay my taxes. Why can't I have that right?"
