Sluggish ticket sales and a crowded pre-holiday season have forced Broadway shows starring out actors David Hyde Pierce, Denis O'Hare, and T.R. Knight to close early.
According to the Associated Press, the revival of La Bete, starring Pierce and Absolutely Fabulous's Joanna Lumley, will close January 9 after struggling through just 100 performances. The original 1991 run of the show lasted just 25 performances.
David Mamet's A Life in the Theatre, starring Knight and Patrick Stewart, will close Sunday, more than a month before its scheduled January 2 end date.
The biggest casualty of the season, Elling -- starring Brendan Fraser in his Broadway debut and True Blood's O'Hare -- will close Sunday after just nine performances.
