Brandon McInerney, on trial for the murder of Lawrence King, was urged by his girlfriend to avoid violence against the gay teen, according to testimony from the girl on Tuesday.
Samantha C., still a minor, said that McInerney had mentioned to her that he was having issues with a gay student. "She said she told him not to get into trouble for beating him up," the AP reported.
While the prosecution says 17-year-old McInerney is a white supremacist who killed King because of his intense hatred for gays, Samantha says she doesn't recall him mentioning racist tendencies.
