RuPaul: Work It Wasn't So Offensive
In light of bad ratings, and viewer protest, ABC cancelled its cross-dressing sitcom, Work It. But one of the most famous drag performers in the world says the show should not have been the target of so much protest.
In an interview with Michelangelo Signorile, RuPaul said the outrage from the show is another case of people being too easily offended.
"We live in a culture where everyone is offended by everything," RuPaul said according to the Huffington Post. "Everybody's like, 'Oh my god, I'm offended!' It's an ego-based culture we live in. The ego has everything to do with identity. So, you know, drag actually mocks identity. So it doesn't really make any sense. I think, in my world, in my circle of friends, we mock everything! Everything is up to be mocked. Don't take anything seriously."
