Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie support same-sex marriage

Entertainment News 2006-09-09 Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie support same-sex marriage Pitt, Jolie won't marry until gay couples can Brad Pitt, ever the social acti

Brad Pitt, ever the social activist, says he won't be marrying Angelina Jolie until the restrictions on who can marry whom are dropped.

"Angie and I will consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able," the 42-year-old actor reveals in Esquire magazine's October issue, on newsstands September 19.

In the article he reflects on "15 things I think everyone should know."

Though Shiloh, the world-famous daughter of Pitt and girlfriend–earth mother Jolie, hogged much attention upon her birth in May, Pitt says he "cannot imagine life" without adopted children Maddox, 5, and Zahara, 1.

"They're as much of my blood as any natural-born, and I'm theirs," says Pitt. "That's all I can say about it. I can't live without them. So anyone considering [adoption], that's my vote."

Pitt, who plays a world traveler in the upcoming drama Babel, subscribes to a laid-back parenting style. "I try not to stifle them in any way," he says. "If it's not hurting anyone, I want them to be able to explore. Sometimes that means they're quite rambunctious."

Lucky kids.

"I feel it's really important to have that time to sit and talk to them," he continues. "I really like that last minute before they fade off. And always give them a heads-up before you jerk them out of something. You need to tell them, like, 'You have three more minutes.' " (AP)

The "religious" commentators below who cast aspersions on Brad and Angelina sicken me. Those two are doing God's work Angelina began a nature conservatory in Cambodia to protect endangered species; converted former poachers to rangers; built roads and schools and brought villages together. She built a soy milk factory, and not only fed a village for a day - she gave them the means to feed themselves. Does that parable sound familiar? Brad is rebuilding the 9th Ward of New Orleans in the wake of Katrina. They are traveling the world to aid the downtrodden and the sick, the poor and the hungry. THAT is true Christianity. Even if they would not describe themselves as Christians, they are better than the "Christians" who focus myopically on a SINGLE passage from Leviticus and ignore the THEME of the Bible which is LOVE. Only God can judge; human beings are too flawed to see virtue. Which is why someone tried to write a guide book, but apparently some things got lost in translation.

This is an old article, but these commentators make me sick. Let me give you some straight talk: America is the land of opportunity. EQUAL opportunity. Who are you to tell people what is right and isn't right about the people they love? The Bible is not the moral guideline for many, many people. You have no moral high ground whatsoever, so stop acting so shocked that people don't fit to your narrow, confined views of the world. Also? Jesus was not a stupid bigot. It's a shame to see that so many of his followers are. I am ashamed to call you my fellow countrymen, because it is this kind of bigotry that makes the world look upon us with scorn. We are Americans. We do NOT discriminate. If you disagree with that statement, please leave. You are the plague that infects America, and the sooner you leave, the better.

We all live in a world of color. Look around and what do you see? Color. Not black and white. There are as many beliefs in the world as there are languages. To quote a Christian sacred text is meaningless to those who have no belief in it. Remember what Marlo Thomas sang to us in the 70's? Free to be you and me, baby! Signed, A 40-year-old heterosexual, married for 20 years mother and small business owner!

Thank you so much for your generous donation to voting No on Prop 8. I can't tell you how much that means to those of us who are waiting to see if our marriage certificates will still be valid at Christmas. I wish I could tell you how much I respect you and your partner for all your humanitarian efforts. You are making a huge difference in the world, and I wish you would run for office!

I must say I haven't heard that before - great show from Angelina and Brad. I have always liked them for their acting skills, so it is a pleasure to learn that as well. As for the comments before me, why don't you go to whatever hellhole you crawled from, honeys?
