New Line Cinema
is partnering with HBO to bring the hit sitcom Sex and
the City to the big screen, reports DailyVariety.
Sarah Jessica
Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon are
signed to reprise their roles in the movie. The script will
be written by longtime executive producer Michael
Patrick King.
King will be
working with Parker, John Melfi, and Darren Star to produce
the film, which has been anticipated since the show's end in
2004.
The film project
almost came together two years ago but fell apart when
Cattrall backed away, the paper reports. It was rumored that
she wanted script control and a salary closer to that
of Parker, who was more highly paid than her coworkers
because of her role as a producer of the series.
According to DailyVariety, sources say that Cattrall is now allowed
to give input on her scenes and will receive a larger
paycheck. (The Advocate)
