Simmons: Lambert Killed Career By Coming Out

Kiss front man Gene Simmons said in a recent interview that American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert's decision to come out will kill his career.

KISS front man Gene Simmons said in a recent interview that Adam Lambert's decision to come out will kill his career.

"He killed his career because now the conversation is not about his talent but about his sexual preference," he told AOL. "He's done.

"I hope I'm completely wrong. I hope he becomes the next Beatles and proves me wrong. Adam was fantastic. What a powerful and attractive man he is. He can come on tour whenever he'd like."

The American Idol runner-up is currently putting the finishing touches on his debut album, due in stores this fall.

This comment is to Richard Marks... Speak for YOURSELF! If we, the people of this "free" country, don't have tolerance for gay people then we should not have tolerance for straight people. Why is it not ok for a gay man to talk about his personal life but it's ok for a straight man to do so? Gene Simmons is the biggest hypocrit I've ever seen. All he ever talks about is his sexuality and how many women he has banged. He's DISGUSTING!!! You and Gene both need to stop being so damn ignorant and realize that your close-minded opinion doesn't matter anyway....Adam will still be iconic! You would travel the world to get your 1 million dollar pill to "cure" your attraction to another man? Once again, this only shows how truly ignorant you are. You talk about being gay like it's a sickness...a disease. These views are what's wrong w/this world. People are so damn ignorant. Being gay is NOT a choice!! Get that through your thick heads!

Being true to yourself and living your life with honesty and integrity is far more important than how much money, fame or "success" you can achieve.

I did not watch American Idol. However, I have heard that there have not been a talent like this Adam guy. Fantastic is the worst I have heard about him. However, his success will also be a result of discipline, focus and tremendous character. If he can handle that he may have a shot. I totally agree with Simmons... he made it harder for himself because there is not a tolerance in the US or anywhere else..just FAKE tolerance: either to look cool for thinking he/she has an open mind for having gay friends or because corporations can bank on us. If Lambert stops putting his gayness before his music he will succeed. We the public buy music and talent, we do not buy gayness (especially when the majority of the people see gayness as something related to what we see on the net..promiscuity). I will say again: If there was a 1 million dollar pill to heal my attraction for men I would go to the end of the world to collect this 1 million dollar pill and take it.

And for all you people claiming to want to support Adam by buying his records - why didn't you support Clay Aitken when he came out ? No, I'm not a fan of Clay but I am pointing out that he has now lost his recording contract -very quickly after he came out. To the guy on here who says Pete Burns/Dead or Alive sell records - what decade are you living in ? Dead or Alive haven't had a hit since the late 1980's - why do you think Pete Burns is having to do reality TV to earn a living ? Elton John has said time and time again that his record sales in the US never recovered after he came out. George Michael's sales never recovered in the US either. I think the majority of you on here are letting your emotions/feelings about Adam rule your judgment. Concentrate on FACTS. Coming out is bad for your career here in he homophobic U.S. which is still controlled by white, gay-hating extremists.
