A film about the riots that helped spark the modern LGBT equality movement has released its first trailer.
In Stonewall, out director Roland Emmerich captures the 1969 uprising through the fictional eyes of Danny Winters (Jeremy Irvine), who is caught up during the historic event in New York City's West Village.
In the film, Winters flees to New York after being kicked out of his parents' home. There he finds community but also conflict with local authorities.
The movie also features Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Ron Perlman, Joey King, Jonny Beauchamp (Penny Dreadful), and Caleb Landry Jones (X-Men: First Class).
Stonewall opens nationwide September 25. See the trailer below.
