Just a few hours after British crooner Sam Smith took home four Grammys, he hauled himself to Ellen DeGeneres's show in Burbank, Calif.

DeGeneres, clearly proud of the 22-year-old, asked Smith about his night and how it felt to be an overnight success. Smith described hitting up a Grammy after-party and then scarfing burgers at In-N-Out. "The most beautiful thing about this whole thing is I haven't played a character," Smith says.

Of the man who broke Smith's heart and inspired In the Lonely Hour, the singer said, "I just found it funny that such a sad record and such a sad experience turned out to be such a happy one."
