Robert Drew Inge of Yorktown, Virginia is claiming he is the victim of a hate crime after a man attacked him in his own home on Christmas night while also verbally assaulting him with antigay slurs, reports NewNowNext.
"I was thrown into my bathtub, and stomped in the face and jaw over and over while being called a 'faggot,'" Inge writes on Facebook. He says the man, whom he "barely knew" tackled him from behind and "slammed my fingers on my right hand into the door, breaking them and ripping them open."
He later added on Instagram the he was "held against my will, stabbed in the face with a metal object and am now recovering."
His assailant also knocked out four of Inge's teeth.
Inge, who is a hairdresser and will likely be unable to work for several weeks due to the nature of his injuries, has launched a fundraising page to help cover his medical bills and living expenses while he recovers.
"I won't be able to work as one of the injuries I sustained was my fingers I use to cut hair being crushed," he wrote on Instagram. "I don't know the extent of damage done to my fingers but I will be back to do hair in a few weeks hopefully, and I won't let anything stop me."
Though his attacker remains unnamed at this point, Inge reports via social media that the man was arrested on various charges.
