Out Actor Dylan Marron Unboxes Rape Culture

If rape culture came in a box, we could just bury it. Unfortunately, insidious societal messages are harder to destroy.

From the box, out Welcome to Night Vale actor Dylan Marron removes the word "no."

"Apparently if you look at it from different angles, it's supposed to look like the word 'yes,' he says. "Let me try it out ... hmm, it still stys 'no.' That's funny!"

In this video, Marron pulls out a "Get Out of Jail Free" card, reminding viewers of the short sentences served by rapists like Brock Turner, who will be released after serving half his time. He also removes DVDs by director Woody Allen, who has been accused of sexual assault.

Marron reminds viewers that rape culture is a part of everyday life. "Even though this product is everywhere, it can be really hard to notice, but once you see it you can never unsee it," he says.
