Pulse Anniversary Tweets: Hillary Notes LGBT Community, Trump Doesn't

And several Democratic politicians took the opportunity to call for better gun control.

Many politicians marked the one-year anniversary of the Pulse tragedy with tweets. Hillary Clinton tweeted a photo of herself at the site and mentioned LGBT people, while Donald Trump, who has never visited the Pulse location, made no such mention.

Some other Republican officials tweeted without acknowledging that many of the victims were LGBT, although a rare Republican ally, U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtenen of Florida, did take note of that.

And the tweets from Democrats varied, but several of them made calls for gun control. Those tweeting included LGBT members of Congress, members of the Florida delegation (the Pulse site is in Val Demings's district), and others who are staunch advocates of LGBT rights and better gun regulations.

She is a political junkie who thinks even the wonkiest details are fascinating, and she always loves to see political candidates who are groundbreaking in some way. She enjoys writing about other topics as well, including religion (she’s interested in what people believe and why), literature, theater, and film. Trudy is a proud “old movie weirdo” and loves the Hollywood films of the 1930s and ’40s above all others. Other interests include classic rock music (Bruce Springsteen rules!) and history. Oh, and she was a Jeopardy! contestant back in 1998 and won two games. Not up there with Amy Schneider, but Trudy still takes pride in this achievement.
