In an interview published two days ago, Donald Trump said that marriage equality is a "dead issue" but also misgendered Caitlyn Jenner. Recently, Trump addressed the question of job protections for LGBT people, saying being gay shouldn't be a reason to justify firing workers. So while his LGBT record is spotty at best, he still faces opposition from many offended by his anti-immigrant and anti-Mexican statements.
But now Trump is facing opposition from an unexpected critic. Walter Mercado, the famed Puerto Rican television astrologer, released an audio video on his YouTube channel about the surging presidential candidate. Mercado was prompted by his followers, he says, who reached out to him requesting he address Trump's xenophobic talking points (building a wall along the border, etc.). Mercado is known for giving astrological readings and predictions, but he's not known for speaking out about political issues.
In the video, Mercado says that Senor Trump's dream of "becoming president of the most important nation in the world ... will diminish once the nation discovers his egocentrism, xenophobia ... and his lack of knowledge."
In what Mercado calls an "astrological analysis" of Donald Trump, he says that Trump is his "own worst enemy" because he was born under the fire dog, according to Chinese astrology. "Senor Donald Trump thinks he can buy everything with money, but he is wrong," says Mercado, adding, "Consciousness is not bought nor sold, it is achieved."
The video ends with a touch of sass from Mercado, who says, "Astrologically speaking, Senor Donald Trump's political future looks slim." On his Facebook page, Mercado shared the video and added, "I invite you to share this video. Latinos should unite to achieve reform that will benefit us all."
