Thursday in New York, "In This House: AIDS, Art and Activism in the Vogue Ball Scene" will feature artists Luna Luis Ortiz, Milton Garcia Ninja, Kia LaBeija, Elegance Bratton, and moderator Martez Smith discussing the ball scene as a context for activist pursuits, including activism around HIV and AIDS. As a site for "entertainment, empowerment, and elation for many young men and women of color coming into their own in New York City" and beyond, the ballroom scene also represents a unique, on-the-ground opportunity for HIV outreach and activism. This event will be held at the LaMama Galleria. For more information go to Visual AIDS.
