Gay Marriage

So I have to say as an openly gay man, It really makes me feel like shit to hear and read things on TV, Online, or in the News about people against gays, and gay marriage. Forget Bette Midler! Her saying she is unsure on were she stands on the subject of Gay Marriage is like Cher coming out saying she dislikes gays! Unfortunaly I do have gay friends who have the 'I don't care' attitude toward getting married, and I have straight friends that are fine with me being gay or fine with having gay friends, but when it comes to marriage they disagree. In the past few years I have gone with my straight friends to a few weddings. I sit there while everyone else is happy, and I wonder does anything think about how I feel? Some other people (gay) may not care. But when I meet the man I am meant to be with, I want a wedding. A beautiful ceremony, a big and fun reception. I want to show my love to that one man, and let the world and my friends and family know how I feel. That I am in love. I want to the right to get married. With out that right it does saddens me. I have a few straight friends who have told me that if I get married and invite them, they will not attend because they don't agree with gay marriage. And that makes me question my friendship with them. On top of that the other thing that bothers me is when I saw a few weeks ago on Ellen when they played the clip of that Senator saying Gays are the 'decline of America.' Saying we teach children our way of things, and then I read also that gays are a disease! Like what the hell does that mean. It hurts to hear things like that. Well I had to vent for a minute, and thought about these things. And I was reading the responses to the issue with Bette's interview. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter.
