My Fake Boyfriend

As hilarious as Allan Brocka's experience was with regards to his fake boyfriend and the grandiose personality that fraud invented, some of us have been naive enough to fall for our own version of the same ol' phony. "Zeke Harris" (not his real name, but definitely the one he fed to me) was a pathologically lying closet case who managed to concoct a clever backstory, hide his mail, cup his hands when showing ID at a gay bar, always use cash, and somehow keep me fooled for over a year. As pissed as I was when I found out, all I have to do now is chalk the whole experience up to a lesson learned and smile knowing that in a corner of some Barnes and Noble, he's sweating and darting his eyes about while reading his name in this issue of the Advocate that he has gingerly nestled behind a copy of Sports Illustrated.
