Three men arrested in connection with murder of gay Londoner

London police officials said Wednesday that three teens were arrested in connection with the brutal murder of Jody Dobrowski. Two of the men, both 17, and another male, age 13, were arrested early Monday morning and were released on bail, The Guardian newspaper reported.

The case was the latest in a series of hate crimes that have plagued the city. Dobrowski, a 24-year-old bar manager, was kicked and punched to death and later died in a hospital. The newspaper reported that the suspects also threatened another gay man who tried to stop the attack. Police believe two of the suspects had attacked gay men in the past and fear they could do so again.

Officers continue to plead with anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward. They estimate that up to 12 people could have witnessed the tragic event. Gay officers have been appointed to the investigation team, and officers said people who have information could choose to speak to them, according to The Guardian.

On Tuesday relatives and friends of Dobrowski gathered at the scene of the attack. "A beautiful and fine young man has been taken from us, and the people who did this will never understand the horror they have inflicted on his family and hundreds of friends," Dobrowski's brother, Jake, said in a statement. "We need to ensure that, as a civilized society, we make sure this does not happen again."
