Read about B.F.D., Los Angeles's "longest"-running queer weekly party, below.
Every Thursday night, Mario Diaz, the king of the raunchy queer party, hosts B.F.D. at the notorious Fubar in West Hollywood. It’s the longest-running (15 years) queer weekly party in Los Angeles, and it may be the longest-running queer weekly party in the U.S. It’s fun and it’s free. The guys are hot and all liquored up, and nearly half-crazy from watching L.A.’s finest go-go dancers (like Jase Grimm). So we figured it was OK to stay up late on a school night, get a stack of $1 bills, and check it out.
Well, we were shocked, shocked I tell you. There’s a contest — a competition, really. It involves audience participation. Photographs we can’t show you here are involved. You may need to get your own stack of $1 bills and go.
Thanks to our lovely photographer Annie Lesser for barging her way backstage to watch Mario and the boys select jockstraps, amusing hats, and novelty eyewear. You can see more of Annie’s work on her website, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
You can check out Mario’s info on his website here.
