Popular out actor and Houston native Matt Bomer took a break from filming on the set of American Horror Story: Hotel to record a short public service announcement for the Human Rights Campaign, urging Houstonians to vote yes on Proposition 1.

The proposition, which is on the ballot for Tuesday and has already been the reason for a surge in early voting, would affirm the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance. The law, which bans discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, sex, race, and other factors in employment, housing, and education, was approved by the City Council last year, but because opponents challenged it, the Texas Supreme Court ruled in July that the city must either repeal it or put it to a public vote.

"I'm an actor, a parent, a husband and a Houstonian," Bomer, who grew up in the nation's fourth-largest city, says in the video. "I was raised with the belief that everyone deserves to be treated equally. These are the same values I grew up with in Houston and these are the same values I try to teach my kids. Please join me in supporting the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance. Vote yes on Proposition 1."

Watch Bomer voice his support for HERO in the video below.
