Attendees of the conservative conference looking for gay love also found an ad calling out their hypocrisy.
The Human Rights Campaign is trolling the Conservative Political Action Conference.
The LGBT rights organization apparently released a location-based ad on the gay hookup app Grindr. It was targeted around Oxon Hill, Md., near Washington, D.C., where the conference is taking place.
"Attention: CPAC attendees, you can't be with us in the hotel room and against us in the CPAC ballroom," the ad read, which, in this context, would be a message for LGBT or closeted conservatives promoting an antigay agenda.
Raymond Braun, a gay activist and YouTube personality, shared the ad on Twitter Saturday, remarking, "Wow. This is very clever marketing." It was also shared widely on Reddit.
Previously, Grindr reported a surge in user activity near the Republican National Convention in Cleveland last year. The company told Broadly that these users constituted an "over-representation of white males."
