A transgender teen in Australia has a super-supportive mother -- she placed a birth announcement in her local newspaper to announce that the previous one, placed 19 years ago, was in error.

"In 1995 we announced the arrival of our sprogget Elizabeth Anne as a daughter," reads the announcement from Yolanda Bogert in The Courier-Mail of Brisbane. "Oops our bad. We would like to present our wonderful son -- Kai Bogert. Loving you is the easiest thing in the world. Tidy your room."

In an interview with the paper this week, Yolanda Bogert said placing the ad was "a no-brainer." Kai came out to her as transgender just a few days ago, although she had seen signs that told her that was a possibility, but she wanted to show him and the rest of the world that she supports him unequivocally.

Kai said he has yet to make a decision about hormone treatment or surgery, but he now feels "more me than I was a few days ago." He expressed gratitude to his mother, telling The Courier-Mail, "I am so happy with what she has done."

Trudy is a proud “old movie weirdo” and loves the Hollywood films of the 1930s and ’40s above all others. Other interests include classic rock music (Bruce Springsteen rules!) and history. Oh, and she was a Jeopardy! contestant back in 1998 and won two games. Not up there with Amy Schneider, but Trudy still takes pride in this achievement.
