Southern Decadence Is a State of Mind
Launched by a motley crew of outcasts in 1972, this celebration has survived hell and high water to continue breaking all the rules of decorum and good taste. And keeping with the theme of chaos, the events took place from August 31 through September 5, or August 30 through September 4, depending on where you look on the website. But really, Southern Decadence is a state of mind that can’t be bound by dates, right? Check out this really interesting and funny history of the event. It will make you want to plan on going next year. Photography by Paul Broussard/NewOrleansOnline.com.
