I'm not one of those ADVOCATE readers who whines and complains every time someone straight makes the cover; however, it was great to see Cheyenne Jackson gracing that spot. Mr. Jackson is gorgeous and talented and strikes just the right balance of being out - not flaunting it but not hiding it. And then ADVOCATE Editor-in-Chief Anne Stockwell had to go and spoil it all by describing Jackson as "straight-acting, straight-appearing" onstage. Are we ever going to move beyond these homophobic terms? Stockwell and the ADVOCATE should be leading the way in discourse rather than perpetuating stereotypes and outdated notions of what counts as acceptable ways to be gay.
