I was delighted to discover the interview with Kim Cattrall in the May 20 issue. I have to tell you how disappointed I was in her comments. The attitude that she needs to keep Samatha (her most popular and lasting character, and trust me I have seen a great deal of her work over the years) at a distance is ridiculous. Kim is Samantha. No one else could have been so memorable in that character. Kim inhabited Samantha, or is it vice versa? Then Kim practically derailed the movie with her script and salary demands (and I have no problem fighting to get what you're worth), but is champing at the bit to publicize the project (probably because she is making a percentage). Can she name any other project that she could have pulled that stunt on? I think not! If any of her previous work had struck the public's fancy the way Samantha has it would be another story. Kim needs to take a page from the Star Trek book (of which she is an alumni), where Leonard Nimoy found that despite his protests he needed to embrace Spock and and use it to his, and his fans', advantage. As a matter of fact I just saw him in a new commercial this week. I want the movie to be a huge hit and possibly be the first of several. But don't deny Samantha, Kim, love her the way all the rest of us do. That doesn't mean you shouldn't keep working on other projects. But since you made the money issue so clear, remember where your bread is buttered.
