Grace and Frankie
It is an established fact that Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda are national treasures. In the past month alone, they have spoken out against North Carolina’s anti-LGBT law, and Fonda also offered a message of hope for LGBT youth. This should come as no surprise to fans of Grace and Frankie, in which the icons portray women whose husbands (Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston) come out as gay and in a relationship with each other. The Netflix series is blazing trails in its portrayal of folks in their golden years discovering love, regardless of sexual orientation. And it’s special in its portrayal of the relationship between Tomlin’s and Fonda’s characters, who despite their differences discover a meaningful friendship. Watch their journey continue with season 2 this weekend on Netflix.
