Gay groups are heralding the decision by Republican Mass. senator Scott Brown to support repeal of "don't ask, don't tell," but a conservative leader is balking.
The Boston Herald reports that Massachusetts Family Institute director Kris Mineau is "disappointed" with Brown for stating support for repeal, an announcement he made this week. Mineau supported Brown's campaign to fill Ted Kennedy's Senate seat in 2010, and at that point Brown was supportive of DADT. Now, with Brown's change on the matter, Mineau said he's reconsidering support for Brown's reelection in 2012.

"We are pleased that Senator Brown has joined a supermajority of Americans, Massachusetts residents and service members who support an end to 'don't ask, don't tell,'" said Kara Suffredini, executive director of Mass Equality.
