You can be a part of art history — and you may have a great time doing it. Read how below.
Back in 2007 Stuart Sandford created a photographic series titled Cumfaces, the first iteration of the "selfie" in his work. He sent out an open call through social networks and eventually received around 25 responses. Twelve of those responses spoke to Stuart for different reasons and they were published and exhibited for the first time ever in Poland. Stuart also produced a black and white limited edition (of 150) zine of the series which sold out almost immediately. Since them, the series has been exhibited and published around the world, most recently in May in the Swiss newspaper Tages Anzeiger.
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of series Stuart wants to do a new version. Stuart is asking for submissions for the project, which will be exhibited and published later in 2017/beginning of 2018 (venue to be confirmed). The requirements for submission haven't changed since the original version:
1. It should take place on a bed;
2. It should show your head and shoulders;
3. It should be in landscape (rather than portrait) format;
4. It should be shot with an iPhone/digital camera for good print resolution
He's looking for all ages, creeds, colors, nationalities, and genders, and you'll need to sign a model release form to allow usage of the image created for print sales, exhibition, and publication. Any questions? Fire away! Contact Stuart at StuartSandford.co.uk, or directly email him.
Meanwhile enjoy the original series here that unloaded into the world.
