Elizabeth Waterman is best known for her work capturing gorgeous pictures of sex workers in the U.S. In recent years, Waterman has traveled to Thailand various times to interview and photograph local trans women known as "katoeys" — a term commonly translated into "ladyboys" in English.
The photographer is clearly passionate about showing the lives of this marginalized community, and the depth of emotion experienced by these women definitely comes through — clearly — in all of her work. Waterman has been documenting a time in history where the tides are changing, and queer people around the world are thankful for this artistic endeavor.
