Those People
We all know those people. And by Those People, we mean the new film about a New York painter named Charlie, who is obsessed with the son of a disgraced investment banker in the jungles of the Upper East Side. Oh, to be young and gay and affluent and scandalous in New York City. Written and directed by Joey Kuhn, the film will be screening at various LGBT film festivals this summer, including Frameline in San Francisco June 19. Watch the filthy rich trailer below.
Lambda Literary Awards
It'll be one starry, starry night honoring the best in LGBT literature at the 27th Annual Lambda Literary Awards Monday night in New York City. Kate Clinton will emcee; John Waters and Rita Mae Brown will receive the Trustee and Pioneer Awards, respectively; entertainment will include a performance by Toshi Reagon and a number from Fun Home: The Musical; and among the presenters will be Liz Smith, Gloria Steinem, Alan Cumming, Janet Mock, Andrew Rannells, and Michelangelo Signorile, as Lammys go to the top writers of LGBT-focused novels, erotica, memoirs, poetry, and more. Get your tickets here for the ceremony at the Great Hall at Cooper Union, also featuring a cocktail reception and VIP after-party.
Gay Days Orlando
If you love to party, Florida is the place to be next week, as Gay Days Orlando kicks off Tuesday goes through Sunday. There'll be pool parties, comedy shows, a Miss Gay Days Pageant, a conference on transgender issues, concerts by Wilson Phillips, Salt-N-Pepa, and Color Me Badd, and much, much more. Oh, and there's a theme park called Walt Disney World that's celebrating its 25th anniversary. Get all the info here and see a preview of the events in the video below.
