We have a hard time discerning the seasons in Los Angeles. But when we see the scarlet flash of a Dynel wig and hear the clumping of high heels on the Orpheum stage, we know fall has arrived, and with it some of the most talented and hilarious drag queens on the left coast.
The Best in Drag Show is produced every year by an army of extraordinary talented volunteers and a small staff from Alliance for Housing and Healing to support the work of the nonprofit group, including its flagship program known as Aid for AIDS.
To get you in the mood for the show, we present some of John Arsenault's photos of contests gone by. Aresenault has volunteered at every level, including being a contestant. See samples from his new book, Barmaid, here, and check out his website here.
The show is this Sunday night. Pray to the drag sky goddess that there are still some seats available.
