The nominations for the 73rd Golden Globe Awards were announced today, and they're very LGBT-inclusive.
Two queer-themed films received several nominations: Carol received five noms, including for Best Motion Picture, Drama, and Todd Haynes for Best Director; and The Danish Girl received three, including a best actor and actress nominations in a drama for Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander.
Lily Tomlin was nominated for both her role in the movie Grandma and for her Netflix series Grace and Frankie. Both Judith Light and Jeffrey Tambor were recognized for their pivotal roles in Transparent, which was also nominated for Best Comedy in the TV categories.
Sam Smith's theme song for the James Bond film Spectre, "Writing's on the Wall," received a nomination. Some surprises in the nominations this year include Lady Gaga's nom for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel, and she's competing in the same category as Queen Latifah for her role in Bessie, as the bisexual blues singer Bessie Smith.
The 2016 Golden Globes ceremony will be held January 10. Three-time host Ricky Gervais will return to emcee the gala once again.
