Ellen DeGeneres will be generous with a People's Choice humanitarian award worth $200,000, and give back to St. Jude Children's Hospital, the Associated Press reported Monday.
DeGeneres will be honored this week for her work which includes supporting charities aimed at helping animals as well as anti-bullying efforts. Her talk show's website has a list of various causes and charities Ellen recommends. Regular viewers of Ellen may also be familiar with segments in which individuals who have fallen on hard times are presented with assistance during times of need.
In September, DeGeneres teamed-up with Caitlyn Jenner to help a trans nursing student, giving her $20,000 to advance her education. Blossom Brown had been featured on Jenner's docu-series, I Am Cait.
DeGeneres's award for Favorite Humanitarian comes with a monetary donation from Walgreens, which she is directing toward the hospital, according to the wire service.
She joked that the award "sums me up perfectly as I am both a human and an itarian," according to the wire service.
DeGeneres is also nominated as Favorite Talk Show Host for the fan-selected People's Choice Awards, which will be broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on CBS Wednesday night.
