Bianca Del Rio is raising a storm against discrimination in her new film, Hurricane Bianca.

Directed by Matt Kugelman, the movie stars the former RuPaul's Drag Race winner (Roy Haylock) as a science teacher who is fired from a Texas high school for being gay. He gets his revenge by dressing in drag and returning to the classroom as Bianca Del Rio.

The production features both A-list actors as well as Drag Race alums, including Alan Cumming, Rachel Dratch, Margaret Cho, RuPaul, Willam, Shangela, and Alyssa Edwards.

Advocate editor Daniel Reynolds spoke with Del Rio about Hurricane Bianca and how she uses comedy to raise awareness of employment discrimination against LGBT people.

The drag performer also discussed her upcoming comedy tour, Donald Trump, and how cisgender people can help transgender people in their fight for equality.
