The beloved actress died Wednesday morning in Connecticut.
Actress, activist, and entertainment icon Mary Tyler Moore was hospitalized Wednesday in Connecticut; a few hours later, she passed away at the age of 80 while in the company of friends and family, including husband Robert Levine. Beloved for her advocacy in animal causes and diabetes awareness, Moore also left an enduring mark on culture.
As star of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Moore redefined the modern woman -- her character was a single journalist who didn't pine for companionship but instead was the center of her close circle of coworkers and friends. Moore also starred in The Dick Van Dyke Show, Ordinary People, and Thoroughly Modern Millie.
