Guy Pearce on Working With Kevin Spacey: He Was 'Handsy'

Spacey's L.A. Confidential costar Pearce implied misconduct but stopped short of accusing the House of Cards star of outright abuse.

Without going into detail, actor Guy Pearce called his L.A. Confidential costar Kevin Spacey -- who's been accused of sexually harassing dozens of men -- "handsy," according to The Guardian.

When Australian talk show host Andrew Denton asked Pearce about working with Spacey on the set of the acclaimed 1997 film, Pearce said, "Tough one to talk about at the moment. Amazing actor; incredible actor. Slightly difficult time with Kevin, yeah."

"He's a handsy guy. Thankfully, I was 29 and not 14," Pearce said, referring to the allegation that led to Spacey being held accountable for what amounted to years of sexual misconduct.

During the height of the #MeToo movement last fall, actor Anthony Rapp (Star Trek: Discovery, Rent) shared his story of Spacey assaulting him at a party when Rapp was just 14 years old. From there, allegations about Spacey's misconduct poured in from several men, which led to the actor's career nosediving. Within weeks, director Ridley Scott replaced Spacey in All the Money in the World with Christopher Plummer at the eleventh hour, and the hit Netflix series House of Cards dropped the actor.

Spacey is currently under investigation in West Hollywood and in London, where he's being investigated for more than 20 complaints of "inappropriate behavior" during his tenure as artistic director of the Old Vic theater.
