Veteran radio personality and a host on New York City's Z100, Elvis Duran became engaged on Friday the 13th when his boyfriend Alex Carr popped the question with the help of an open umbrella with "Elvis, Will You Marry Me?" on it, according to People.
"Yesterday was Friday the 13th. People believe that the day brings bad luck, but I totally disagree," Carr wrote on Instagram.
"I was born on Friday, June 13th. I've always considered myself to be lucky and blessed, as I was when Elvis came into my life almost 8 years ago...first as my boyfriend and now fiance!!!! They say opening umbrellas in the house brings bad luck, but this time I don't believe it. I love you, Elvis Duran!" Carr continued.
At 53, Duran's radio career spans 30 years with stints on stations in Atlanta, Houston, and Philadelphia. He's been with Z100 since 1996 and currently hosts the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. For the past five years, he's hosted Elvis Duran's Artist of the Month series on The Today Show on which he highlights up-and-coming musicians.
Carr is a zookeeper who hails from Staten Island, according to Page Six.
