After an eight-year break, The Real Housewives of Miami are back and they're ready to bring the Florida heat while making some franchise history with the first out lesbian housewife, Julia Lemigova. There have been other housewives who've come out during their time on the show, but Lemigova is the first to be out from the outset, something queer fans have been eager to see for years. After all, who brings the drama better than lesbians? And from the looks of the trailer, there's no shortage of it heading directly to our screens from the Sunshine State.
For those unfamiliar with Lemigova, she's a former Russian beauty queen and is married to pro tennis player Martina Navratilova. Unlike her costars, Lemigova is more comfortable outside the city limits. "Julia runs a small farm outside of Miami and can often be found on the farm feeding the chickens or milking goats, amongst the menagerie of animals found on her property," according to Bravo.
Joining Lemigova this season are returning housewives Larsa Pippen, Alexia Echevarria, and Lisa Hochstein. Guerdy Abraira and Dr. Nicole Martin (along with Lemigova) represent the new blood this time around. Fan favorites Marysol Patton, Adriana de Moura, and newbie Kiki Barth will appear as "friends of" this season. Everyone, as seen in the trailer, is ready to mix it up, with plenty of drama about OnlyFans, secretly gay [gasp!] husbands, and even some same-sex kissing. "Buckle up, baby," jokes Abraira in the trailer. "It's gonna be a bumpy ride!" We can't wait.
While Lemigova is making queer history for the franchise, she's not the only housewife who's opened up about their queerness. Former Real Housewives of Orange County star Braunwyn Windham-Burke came out as a lesbian in 2020, and costar Elizabeth Lyn Vargas shared that she's bisexual earlier this year. While they've both left the show, Noella Bergener, a newcomer on the upcoming season of RHOC, declares she's bisexual in its first trailer. And of course, Real Housewives of Atlanta stars Kandi Burruss and Porsha Williams's respective "dips in the lady pond" have long been plot points for that series. Still, an out-and-proud-from-the-start housewife is new.
We can't wait to see what Lemigova brings when the series makes its debut December 16 on Peacock. The first three episodes will be available the day of the premiere, with new episodes available on Thursdays.
