Jonathan Van Ness has been satisfying his curiosity and entertaining listeners since 2015 with his podcast Getting Curious, on which he's dug into a variety of subjects ranging from vaccine misinformation to the origins of the Panama Canal -- and just about everything in between. Now Entertainment Weekly is reporting the Queer Eye star's taking his curiosity to the TV screen with a new Netflix series based on the podcast premiering on January 28.
On the new show -- which is being produced by World of Wonder, the company responsible for the mega-hit, Emmy Award-winning RuPaul's Drag Race franchise -- Van Ness will continue to deliver deep dives on a variety of subjects that have aroused his curiosity.
"From skyscrapers to bugs, or from gender identity to snacks, each episode follows Jonathan as he meets with experts in various fields to uncover complexities in a wide range of subjects," the streaming service shared in its announcement of the series. No doubt he'll bring his brand of effervescent enthusiasm to every episode.
For those concerned this new venture means the Fab Five will become a Fab Four, have no fear: Van Ness will still appear in the upcoming sixth season of their hit Netflix series, which returns December 31. In the new season, Van Ness and the gang are heading to Texas to bring their wit, wisdom, and style to the Lone Star State, despite a long pause in filming caused by the pandemic.
Van Ness shared the news about his new series on Twitter.
"I have been working towards this moment for almost 10 years and it's finally here!! My first ever solo network TV project created and Executive Produced by yours truly!" he wrote. No surprise, his fans are just as thrilled.
