Performing Gender is a European dance project making use of artistic and cultural tools to open up a civil reflection on gender and sexual orientation differences, seen as sources of values and richness for the whole European society.
In March Bologna honored its tradition of "the city of performance": after the historic 1977 Abramovic and Ulay performance, the Performing Gender project (www.performinggender.eu) brought contemporary dancers, performers and visual artists to present their works at the Museum of Modern Art of Bologna (Mambo).
Performing Gender is made up of four festivals from four different countries: Gender Bender (Italy), Nederlandese Dansdagen (Netherlands), Paso a 2 (Spain) Queer Zagreb (Croatia).
During Symposium, the final chapter of this experience and maybe the anticipation of "the next step," eight artists proposed their "durational performances" for six hours in two days, and here are a few images of their intriguing artworks.
