The road to love is sometimes a bumpy one, and Ben Platt knows that.
On the August 27 episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson's Dinner's on Me podcast, Platt opened up about his relationship with his fiancé Noah Galvin, confessing that their relationship had to overcome some difficulty.
Platt explained that he and Galvin started hooking up while workshopping the musical Alice by Heart in 2019. Specifically, Platt and Galvin would "go to the stairwell during break and make out."
After just a couple of months, however, Platt said that he panicked and dumped Galvin in a "text that's so long that it has an arrow at the bottom to go to the rest of it."
"I sent him a dissertation, and it was like, 'Oh, I feel like we're gonna be friends for our whole lives,' and like, 'I'm worried if we jump into something, it's gonna ruin our chance to be friends.'"
Thankfully, they remained friends… and eventually got back together! "Basically, now I can tell in hindsight, like, [I] met someone who, like, actually we saw each other, and it freaked me out."
In 2023, the two Dear Evan Hansen stars got engaged.
Platt had initially proposed to Galvin in November 2022, saying "He agreed to hang out forever," in an Instagram post.
Then, in May 2023, Galvin also popped the question. "He proposed back," Platt wrote in his Instagram stories, showing off a ring.
We're glad to know that Platt and Galvin have learned that they are better together than apart!
