It's time for act two!
The hit Apple TV+ series Schmigadoon! is back for a colorful and thrilling second season, with many of the original stars returning from the first season.
In the new episodes, the cast heads to a new city of Schmicago where multiple storylines contain plenty of references from popular musicals such as Cabaret, Hair, Godspell, Sweeney Todd, Pippin, and more.
Dove Cameron, who is queer, has used her platform to advocate and connect with the LGBTQ+ community at large through her music and television projects.
"I knew I was queer from a very young age. I've always been in queer spaces. I really owe the queer community everything, not just career-wise... I owe them the underpinnings of who I am. Without queer spaces, especially now, you can't ever fully unfold to yourself in a way that creates a solid, healthy, open, human being that's connected to the fullness of who they are. I owe them everything," Cameron tells The Advocate.
Beyond the second season of Schmigadoon!, Cameron continues to make a splash in entertainment with her latest hit single “We Go Down Together," which has over 43 million global streams. Plus, the star recently earned “Best New Artist” accolades at the VMAs and AMAs.
"The music thing is really new to me. When you are doing well or when something is going how you hope it will, your imposter syndrome has to go to sleep. I did write that song! It really was all me, which is something that I've never been comfortable doing before," Cameron says.

On the other hand, Jane Krakowski is considered a gay icon for her longtime advocacy and allyship, along with her legendary roles on television (30 Rock, Ally McBeal, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and the Broadway stage (Starlight Express, Nine, Grand Hotel, She Loves Me).
"I do it all for [the LGBTQ+ community]. Every choice I make to be funny or to be clever or to be good at anything is for [the LGBTQ+] community. I couldn't be more thankful that I've had the career that I have and how long it's been. My greatest hope is that it just continues and I get to keep learning and get to keep trying new things and challenging myself," Krakowski tells The Advocate.
Although Krakowski has so many award-winning and notable roles on her résumé, her appearance as a guest judge on the fifth season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars still resonates with her today.
"That was one of my favorite things I've done in my career! That was so fun. I love Ru and the show was the greatest pleasure to be on. I was so emotional that day. I was rooting for all of them! They all have all my love and support," Krakowski says.
The star is thankful that she can continue her acting and musical legacy by adding a second season of Schmigadoon! under her belt.
"I was begging for Cinco Paul to write me in again. Every season that we come back, we get to play different characters. That's a dream to me. I just couldn't wait to open the page and see who we were all playing. I really loved working on this show. If you know musical theater, you're going to get the show on so many different levels. I really admire how smart the show is written."

The all-star cast of Schmigadoon is led by Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live) and Keegan-Michael Key (The Prom, Key & Peele) as their characters explore all of the defining musicals in the 60s and 70s.
With season two following the show's successful debut in 2021, both leads are hoping Schmigadoon can bring more positivity into everyone's homes.
"I was most excited just to see all these guys again. [This] era of musicals is just really fun and we had more looks! We got to play with different looks this time, so I really enjoyed that. The Schmigadoon fans made Twitter so much nicer than it's ever been before," Strong says.
"Sweeney Todd is my favorite musical of all time, so I was really excited about that. [Schmigadoon is] a wonderful, positive, colorful escape for everyone. In a way, we were doing a service hopefully to humanity," Key says.
